Microsoft reveals Windows Sandbox for Windows 10 to run malware without impacting the PC

Microsoft today revealed a sandboxed desktop environment for Windows 10 that allows users to test untrusted or malicious software without any impact on their PC. The new Windows 10 feature is called Windows Sandbox and will be available for Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise users.


Too bad it’s restricted to AMD64 CPU’s.


That’s pretty much any CPU in the last 15+ years. The AMD64 architecture requirement listed by Microsoft is just a fancy name for x64.


Using something like Comodo Internet Security, you can get similar functionality for previous versions of Windows (XP and higher). It should work on non-enterprise versions of Windows 10 as well.
