more native tools & apps across platforms is where google (and to a lesser extent Apple) is heading.. although, I think it's not lost upon MS that interacting with a HDTV/ULTRA HDTV over wired or wireless interface will be an important factor going forward. albeit.. I don't think people really want 10 devices.. they may want 2-4 at most..
two being low power & high power home devices.. and the others being mobile tablets or smart phones.
You can extrapolate that your entertainment will one day be programmable by voice command and not be a burden.. I foresee subscription to cloud storage and access to broadband to be the new evolution they are targeting. Since it will be increasingly difficult to contain licensing for copyright in the age of the internet.. getting convenient access to whatever you want will be where the money is flowing..
No doubt this is WHY google want into the ISP business... Microsoft should be thinking the same thing too.. and doing something about it.. not playing catch-up 5, 7, 15 years later..
