simply can not understand why… This one is so old it surprises me Microsoft had to put out a fix for it.

In reality, it goes to show how utterly useless many of the antivirus applications of today have become, then it goes to show just how ignorant some users are.
O.k. It may be in the adware family and so not strictly the business of an antivirus, but this is bordering very close to a virus. Still, I can not understand how people can have such an infection and not do anything about it. I mean, it is not really a silent infection now is it… besides, the solution is only a small search away, either by symptom or otherwise.

For anyone still wandering in the darkness of yesterday, an anti-virus is simply not enough anymore! you will have to have anti-malware and anti-exploit applications as well at the very least. Depending on how this configuration is, we can go into details on what more is needed. Waiting for MSRT to fix anything for you is like waiting for next spring in the summer and should only be necessary for malware you do not know you’re infected with.

That is a relevant question  - Even though it is available for download as well, the user will have to actively do so and then the natural follow up question is, how many will?

I don’t seem to recall that Vonteera shuts down the service, still, your ‘Da Da’ moment on Microsoft stands  :flower:
