Microsoft now recommends Windows 10 users to upgrade with notification

Windows 10 users that haven’t installed the latest Windows 10 April 2018 update will soon no longer receive security updates. When users with an older Windows 10 version visit the Microsoft Store, they are greeted with a notification asking them to upgrade their PC or smartphone before the 9th of October this year.

I too recommend Windows 10 users upgrade their systems… to something that’s not Windows 10. There are no stupid mega-updates that take hours to install on GNU/Linux systems. The updates are usually fairly tiny, although there are often many of them. This is especially true for “rolling” GNU/Linux distros like Fedora and Arch. For “stable” systems like Ubuntu, you will have to upgrade to a new versin at least once every few years. But the upgrade process is usually quite smooth.
