I wonder how its Mandarin Chinese will translate?

German to English sounds great, as for English to German, well not so good…
I do hope they call it Babelfish, as a tribute to The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy!

My phone can’t even deal with a mild Lancashire accent

We are years away from translation of anything deviating from standard accents.

Well the demo is impressive. As for his accent, I wouldn’t call it standard, he’s an Indian speaking English trying to emulate an american accent. Of course it must be trained with his voice.

But what’s up with that girl’s smile ? Did batman throw her into a tank full of chemicals ?

Makes me think of Star Trek 2009 reboot when Chekov is talking to the computer with his accent and it can’t understand him. It was funny, but MS probably won’t get it right by the 23rd century either
