This is a great new feature but I don’t buy it that the flash drives would be faster than a hard drive. Maybe a crappy Xbox drive which is probably 5400 RPM. But a modern hard drive is much faster than a USB flash drive. As far as I know you can’t get 100 MB/s read/write speeds on a USB flash drive like you can on a 7200 RPM modern drive.

It was about time to do that.

a step in the right direction but they need to raise the 16GB cap

limitied it to 16gb almost defeats the purpose. It’s just enough room for 1 or 2 games installed to the HD and your gamertag/saved games.

You could probably buy a used 20gb hard drive for 20 bux and it’d do the same thing.

Still no solution if you want more space other then paying huge ms prices for a big hard drive (albeit you can make a cheaper self made 250gb hard drive).

Flash memory is faster at random access and small files. That’s why ReadyBoost speeds up Windows 7 / Vista. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReadyBoost
