The scam where fraudsters call people at home and pretend to be a Microsoft employee is a growing problem, according to the software giant. A report released by Microsoft shows that globally about 68% of the consumers has interacted with the scammers. 1 out of 10 even lost money to the scammers.

I’ve read a few amusing ArsTechnical.com articles about people trolling these tech support scammers. One person kept saying things like “America Online isn’t working, I’ll try CompuServe” and “Netscape is taking too long to load, I’ll try Mosaic”, while playing old recordings of dail-up modems. 90s tech FTW!!!
