Meritline.com has the JVC TY -R 100 pack on sale for $27.99 with free shipping.

There’s a note on the page stating that “effective 2010 the Taiyo Yuden brand name has been formally changed to JVC. The product may be shipped in Taiyo Yuden packaging.”

I haven’t tried the JVC version of TY yet. How do the Lite-On drives handle the -R’ (specifically the 20A4P)?

Whoa! I wasn’t expecting that for TY’s! What’s happened to the manufacturing quality of these DVD’s (Verbatims, too)?

I remember when you could go into Best Buy or Staples and pick up a great batch of Sony or Fuji 8x TY +R’s, or an amazing 50 pack of MIT Verbatim’s.
Even the old MIT CMC 8x +R manufactured Staples house had some pretty good scans.

I know:sad: The JVC -R are about the same quality as value line if you are lucky! Verbatim has taken a turn for the better. The MIUAE Verbs + and - are very nice and they have been selling at OfficeMax for $19.99/100.
JVC +R 16x are much better but both flavors had a lot of scratches around the outer edge.
SuperMediaStore stocks MIUAE Falcon made media check it out if you are looking top quality Media for a good price.

Those are the Value TY’s I’d stay away from them even if they were $17.99 or even at
$7.99 well… if they were $7.99 per 100 I might or might not take a chance on them.

:doh: I did not look at the link. I just saw JVC and lost my mind ;). I agree 100% stay away from the value line. JVC -R are nothing more than branded value line IMHO.
@wilton p. This week Verb’s are $21.99/100 at MicroCenter if you have one, or $12.99/50(online price) at BestBuy, still a wee bit cheaper than the value line. Long live F-Troop.
