MenuShrink Version 2.3 is here!

Version 2.3 has the following main new features:

[ul]
[li]You can preview all the menu cells if you want to. This allows you to keep menu transitions or video segments (interviews etc) that were placed in the menu domain and are normally eliminated by MenuShrink.
[/li][li]The overall DVD size is now displayed in the Log
[/li][/ul]
along with a couple bug fixes.
Get the new version at the usual place:
http://www.videohelp.com/~menushrink/
Make sure to refresh the download page to get version 2.3!

Here’s the change log.

UI:

[ul]
[li]You can preview all the cells that have more than 1 I-frame. This is useful
[/li]to keep or discard menu transitions, or buttonless videos that are put in the
menu domain (interviews etc).
[li]The overall DVD size (including menus and title) is now displayed in the Log.
[/li][/ul]
Engine:

[ul]
[li]MenuShrink now avoids bypassing a cell if doing so would yield a “repeating
[/li]menu” (a menu page that repeats once if the user presses one of the buttons).
[li]Clicking “Abort” now skips updating the IFOs!
[/li][li]A warning is issued when the wrong video format is found in the PGC cell
[/li]times.
[li]The cell playback time is now computed from scratch.
[/li][/ul]
Bug Fixes:

  • [li]If “keep audio” was unchecked and a cell was kept animated, the audio streams
    [/li]were mistakingly reset.

Enjoy!

Fantastic, I find it one of the best utilities around for freeing up room before using ReBuilder. Keep up the good work

#3

I’m suprised there isn’t a sticky or sub-forum for MenuShrink.

#4

as useful as menushrink is, giving it its own sub-forum would probably cause it to go unnoticed since relatively few have heard of it.

Menu Shrink is a fantastic little utility to use when you back up your DVD’s and are not concerned with having singing and dancing dwarves in the menu when you back up Snow White. Or to have any motion or audio (there is an option to keep audio) in menus of any dvd you backup. Here are the top 25 space saving DVD’s so far obtained when using Menu Shrink. The list is copied from the Menu Shrink Home Page:

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it’s off to shrink I go…

Thanks for the positive feedback guys.
MenuShrink isn’t that well-known as DVD Shrink or DVD Rebuilder of course, simplest reason being, you can do without menushrink, but you can’t without DVD Shrink or rebuilder… There isn’t much of a need for a menushrink subforum, judging by the amount of traffic on the few threads devoded to it…
Happy shrinking!

I for one, won’t do without it  I like to keep the Menus with scene selection. Anyone that does and is concerned with having the best end result when shrinking or rebuilding a DVD should have it. Every MB saved using Menu Shrink along with PgcEdit and or VobBlanker and any other editing tool is a MB less that has to be compressed before using any transcoder or encoder when backing up to a DVD5. If you back up 1:1 to DVD9 then you don’t need any thing but a good ripping and burning program.
