Memorex DVD+R 4X

I noticed that there are 2 kind of this disk… Is there any way to tell if it is a CMC or the Ricoh?

If anyone has found a way to tell, please let me know… I noticed that there are 2 different box styles… One box has just the top flap that opens, the second kind has a tab to pull out, and then the top flap opens… Does this help separate the 2? Any help on this would be great…

Thanks…

Amazon now has 100 spindle for $85. It is freaking on sale! I’m afraid if it is CMC.
Can anyone tell?

Depending on what batch you get, it’s a crapshoot umong which would be better Ricoh or CMC. There seems to be allot more less then perfect Ricoh discs floating around right now. Same with CMC.

Memorex $90 DVD+R any good?

That CMC.F01 are not that bad, beside limit at 4x if using unhacked firmware. Although, my experience with them is slim, i don’t have any problem using my 10. With all these ports about issues with RICOHJPN, CMC may not be such a horrible choice after all.

Consider me lucky, i don’t have problem with RICOH. But if i need to buy media now, i might even consider picking up a small pack of CMC, just for a change.

Here is one of example:

They can be Moser Baer India discs too. There is a picture here showing a 50-pack MBI to the left and a 50-pack CMC to the right.

In the US., those labeled Memorex is not sold.

Do you know if this is Richo or CMC? Is this CMC or RIcho? It is black base but has a thin ring. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000ET93T/ce/102-7429340-8892147?v=glance&s=electronics&me=ATVPDKIKX0DER&vi=pictures&img=14#more-pictures

Quote from a dude who bought them from amazon:

Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com

I actually sent email to Memorex before I sent to Amazon.
I didn’t get the reply yet.

It seems to me Amazon is working even on Sundays. Good for us

Now the $85 deal only last one day! It is now back to $99.

Both Future Shop and Best Buy in Canada have had Memorex media on sale. I have discovered media differences in the boxes and a way to determine the media manufacturerwithout opening the boxes. The media can be either CMC MAG F01 which burns at 2.4X or RICOHJPNR01 which burns at 4X.
On the back of the packaging either in singles, 5 pack or 10 pack on the bottom left corner there is a product code. The product code is the almost the same for either media in any packaging except the CMC media has an extra letter ‘R’ - ie the 5 pack Ricoh has a product code of 5395 5989 and the CMC is 5395 5989R. I have been able to correctly pick the Ricoh media 10 out 10 with this identifier.
I thought I should share this discovery
I hope it helps

I’ll let you know.

I think it’s Ricoh but I’ll let you know.

Ok, I have also my little experience with Memorex DVD+R so here are my findings. I think they just confirm well what was said some posts ago.

I bought +R 25 discs spindles. I give here the code under the barcode (not the Part no.)
M4D+R4725R.0403 which turned out to be Ricohjpnr01
M4D+R4725MI.1103 which were MBI

This morning I also found M4D+R4725C.xxxx which I assumed were CMC and the above posts confirm this.
I dunno if there are other types.

BTW the only Maxell I tried were ricohjpnr01.

On a side note I got 5 Memorex DVD+RW which were:
M4D+RW47B.0903 Philips.041

SMartburn report:
Drive Type = DVD DUAL
Disc Type = DVD+RW (Single Layer)
Disc MID = 50 48 49 4C 49 50 53 00 (PHILIPS.)
Disc TID = 30 34 31 (041)
Nominal Capacity = 4.38GB
Manufacturer Maybe = Philips Electronics
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 4.0X (Write)

I got the Memorex 100 DVD+R spindle today.
It was Ricoh!
So, I bought 100 spindle(RICOH) for $85!!!

Thx
