Memorex 16x DVD+R...GRRRR!

#1

ok, i’m pissed (though i deserve it for even bothering with Memorex media).

Based on some of the posts here, I thought I’d have a good chance of getting CMCMAGM01 or perhaps RICOHJPNR03…but NOOOOOO…i get PHILIPSC16 01…

granted i haven’t even done any tests or scans yet…but FW 1.07 in my PX-716As only burns them at 12x :a

off to do some tests…

#2

@drpino. Is this the same stuff ? Fujifilm 16x DVD+R, I just about picked up a pack of this the other day and some people wanted to see some burns in this thread .

#3

currently running an FE/TE scan but will post DVD Identifier output as soon as it’s done (ever notice that FE/TE scans put 100% load on the cpu whereas burning, scanning or anything else, doesn’t come close?)…

#4

Definatly uses the CPU, I dont have very many background apps running and it probably depends on the media as well.

#5

My memorex CMCMAGM01 is the 25pack ones. Wanna trade?

#6

the CMCs burn @ 16x in the 716, right? hrmm…

#7

Just checked Plextors website and I hate to say but this media is not even on the compatible list, it’s on the Supported by Auto Strategy list. Philips 8X (4X ~ 8X) DVD+R (16X) Mistake maybe??

#8

For what it’s worth, I got PRODISCR04 as Memorex 16x DVD+R.

#9

Well that’s just great I wonder if Fuji is going to do the same thing as Memorex, Made in Taiwan,(same as Fuji Phillips C16) you’ll never know what MID your getting.

#10

I see no reason to be pissed at Memorex.
They advertised 16x media and you got 16x media.

Get pissed at Plextor for slacking off on the support for this media!
These discs burn quite fine in other DVD Writers at 16x.

#11

fair enough…consider me pissed at a combination of Plextor’s poor support for this MID and the crapshoot when buying Memorex media…

creating data disc as i type this…will do one on 0101 and another on 0202…

#12

Memorex works very hard to get their media supported at the correct speeds with various drive manufacturers.
CMCMAG discs are very well supported by many writers thanks in part to their efforts.
I’ll let them know about the 716A support or lack thereof.

#13

cheers Wesociety…

haven’t run scans yet, but the write transfer on my 0101 dropped to 8x from 12x at the very very end…

i’ll follow with my results posted to this thread…i must admit that i do like the way Memorex packages their media…and the tops are nice too - definitely nicer than FUJI…

edit: here’s the DVD Identifier dump…

Well, I prefer philips.C16 over CMC.MAG.M01…

At least in my benq writers :stuck_out_tongue:

#16

i want some of that prodisc media, where do i get the 16x +r prodisc memorex media at

here is what i like

1st ty and mcc
2nd prodisc
3rd cmc -r media, not there bad + crap
4th riochjpn (only cause i dont use them anymore

#17

i ran a PxScan on one of the two tests discs and will post the results next week…busy preparing to take off for the long wknd…

have a good Memorial Wknd all of you in the USA…

#18

I was curious to see some of those test results myself. Grrrr! Oh well, will have to wait. RitekR04 = Crap in BenQ trying to burn at 16x with B7V9… will never buy that stuff again. I actually bought 2 50 packs of Ridata 4x DVD+R’s again because cheifvalue had them for $13.50 per 50 pack with $3 shipping and handling. Hard to beat that if they are RicohJPNR01’s which overspeed to 8x very nicely in the BenQ.

Hi,

I got a 25 pk of memorex 16x PRODISC R04 from circuitcity a couple of weeks ago. They were on sale for $10. The wrapper says Made in Taiwan. upc 034707056183. There were some that were Made in India but i’m not sure if they were 8x or 16x.
