Disc quality scans.

Next up, 16x burn on NEC ND-3500A firmware 2.19
The NEC 3500 beat the BenQ 1620 by 19 seconds!

#4

CMCMAGAM3 burnt at 16x on NEC 3500A fw 2.19
Disc Quality Scan on the BenQ 1620.
16x Transfer Rate Read Test on NEC 3500A.

NEC 3500A was approximatley 19 seconds faster on this CMCMAGAM3 media.
BenQ 1620 produced disc has slightly lower PI/PIF levels reported by the BenQ 1620.
NEC 3500A produced disc has a smoother readback curve on the NEC 3500A.
NEC 3500A produced disc has lower jitter average reported by the BenQ 1620A.

Both writers seemed to produce very acceptable results on this media!

Hey Wes, nice comparison. Thanks!

If you use WOPC Tool to disable WOPC and use FSU, the BenQ will be 10 secs faster, and I found the burn quality is “similar” compare to WOPC enable.

Hi, I just bought 25pcs to work on my TDK 1616DLN dvd writer but can never get it written. This isn’t any writing problem when I replace with Mitsubishi 8x DVD-R.

The error messages for Memorex 16x DVD-R (CMC MAG AM3) are:

Nero : Burn process failed

DVD-Decrypter: Cannot Write Medium, Reason - Incompatible format.

DVD Shrink : (During check phasing) Illegal disc, could not perform start of disc at once, burn process failed @ 2.4x

Can someone assist me?

Try updating to the latest firmware.

I still won’t touch any CMC with a 10 foot pole. Not much point when TY is so competitively priced these days.
