I don’t get progressive scan. I mean DVD’s are digital, not analog, how can you read a disc better then another player. Either you got all the ones and zeros, or you missed some right? What’s the deal?

Progressive scan gives you progressive output (i.e. the full frame @720 x 576@25fps as you’d see it on your PC screen) rather than interlaced output (half the resolution@50fps). That is only useful for ppl with 100Hz tellies or projectors but it’s how the film was meant to be and better quality.
