I have changed the gui to handle also manual inputs for the media code. Thanks to Code65536 for changing the first post again.

I think this is another problem - sorry guyz …

Tried to change any one of the +R mediacodes to this mediacode which is only 001 and it complains about not being a full media code entry

Interesting, an empty manufacturer name, must be high quality media :). This is currently not supported, I have to add it.

#24

LOL - it sure is :stuck_out_tongue: … well - thanks for your tool - as it is now - it’s helped me get to tweak media never tweakable before (cheapo media) thanks a lot - and if u can get this one working - thanks all the more

#25

I have added replacing to an empty manufacture name in the mean time. After replacing, the entry will disappear from the list because my table scanner can not handle empty name yet. Omnipatcher can, so just save the file and use omnipatcher for the strategy swapping.

#26

Thanks

#27

Wow! I was wondering who you were, adding support for things in OP… very good work!

#28

Bump. I think this thread deserves more time on the first index page, as I’m sure many have still missed it…

#29

An updated version is available now. Here are the changes:

1.0.2.0 21 Nov 2004
 - fixed non standard slimline drive (852/D56/R56) speed id interpretation
and speed checkboxes handling, thanks barcoder for making the tests
 - fixed handling of 16x burn speed checkbox, thanks code65536
 - improved table scan to find some missing +R media codes in BS0K
 - added firmware name detection for Gigabyte OEM drives
 - added reading of single/multi part intel hex format firmware files for BTC firmwares
 - added support for BTC 1016IM drive, -RW speeds might be wrong for A07F firmware
 - added support for Samsung TS-H552B drive, TS02, TS04 firmwares

I can’t get the program to open IDE1016_0056&A07F_MCU.EXE firmware for BTC 1016IM …

#31

It would work on a .BIN file. I’d guess that the .EXE feature for MCSE is only for LiteOn XFlash 2.0.4 or earlier. Flash your drive, and then dump the firmware to a .BIN file using MtkFlash.

#32

Right. If you start this exe file, you will see a window named “windows flash”. While it is open, look into a temporary directory, probably c:\windows emp. You will see a directory named PACxx.tmp.DIR, the xx characters may vary. Inside this directory you will find the A07F.HEX firmware file, which can be loaded.

#33

The flash and extract with mtkflash method should work ofcourse. I do not have a BTC drive, so when I tried to get the firmware out of the running binary, I found it in the temp dir

#34

the software you write is very very good.
I plan to write an article to intoduce your software to Chinese users.
May I have your permission to do that?

#35

That is ok, but please give me the time to add some warnings about possible damages and voided warranty.

#36

I have made some additions and fixes to the tool and the first posting during the weekend, see the changelog in the first posting for details.

#37

Thanks ala42, I got it working now

#38

Now I have another problem,
After I edited the firmware and going to save it but the program saved it in the bin format not the hex one. what program do I need to use? mtkflash?

#39

See Guide to flash your drive in DOS.

#40

add version to thread title
