Media Question

What disc is better to put my pics that are on my harddrive on too?
Should they be put onto a dvd or cd disc?I’am wanting to put alot pictures on to my blank disc’s to free up my harddrives.

The jury is still out on this issue. Good quality CDs and DVDs that are
stored under ideal conditions should last for decades. DVD should be
less prone to damage caused by rough handling. CDs are more easily
damaged because the reflective layer is near the top surface of the
disc. For storing important data, use both CD and DVD and store the
discs in separate locations in case of fire, theft, etc…

Sounds like a good answer to me.Thanks!!

Don’t forget to use high quality media, such as (genuine) Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim

It’s a bit of a vague answer, but it is the best I can come up with
Recordable DVDs are a relatively new technology. Some of the disc
manufacturers make life expectancy claims that are based on
accelerated aging tests. Typical claims range from 30 years to
100 years. They don’t always get it right. Google for “Ritek G05
degredation” and you will see what I mean.

My oldest CD-R are eight years old and showing little or no
signs of degradation. My oldest DVD+/-R are 3-4 years and
still looking good.

Okay,Now I understand totally where you’re coming from.
