[qanda]This thread is about the Buffalo DriveStation Duo (1TB). Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Gooday,
I am downsizing my home network and would like some advice.
Current setup is SBS 2008 Server with 2xWorkstation, 3xNotebooks on Netgear Wireless Router. There are other switches and such around my workbench for my side job of repairing computers.
I want to reduce the network from server-client to workgroup size. I intend to sell off all my server components (if anyone wants SCSI drives, motherboard, Raid controllers etc let me know) and set up the new system.
While doing this, I am considering either a NAS server like the Buffalo or converting one of the workstations to either Windows Home Server or similar.
I am interested in converting all my DVDs into a format that can be saved and played from this new box. I also have a large CD (music) collection I would like to put on there too.
I'm considering Windows Media Center OS, too.
Basically, I want to know how much storage space it takes for each movie and each song (average) and how to put it on the hard drives. Once that is done, how do I get it to play on my TV?
Any info you can provide would be appreciated.
