Medal of Honor How To?

vbimport

Hi All.
I am a complete newbie at this, so forgive me if I am missing something obvious.

I am trying to do a backup copy of my medal of honor cd’s
using Clone CD V4
I have tried using Clony XXL to detect the protection SD 2.51
and pass the settings on to CCD. I have also tried using
the SD 2.51 profile that I downloaded. On all occasions it seems
to copy alright, but when I try to install from the backup disc
I am getting a error that says

Component Data files Minimal
File group Data files Minimal
File D:\data2.cab
Error Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

between 10% and 19% through the install
I have tried this on two burners, a 40x Plextor and a 32x Liteon
using the drives to both read and write the cd’s.

Could anybody be kind enough to give me a clue as to what I am doing wrong?

Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Geoff

Use your liteon to read\write using default game cd profile (check to make sure “allow aws” is unchecked or use the “safedisk2 no aws” profile. Either one should work with your liteon. If you still have trouble lower your read\write speeds and\or try different media.

The error points to a bad write. Generally a change in media will fix it.

Still no success? Then it’s ASPI or DMA related.

Without providing any more info about your rig etc, you’ll have to struggle through the FAQ and Down & Dirty sticky posts, looking for tips about ASPI & DMA.

Hi.
Ok machine specs are
At home
CCD v 4.0.1.10
Windows 2000 Pro
NTFS file system
1.4ghz AMD
1 gig ram sdram
64 meg Nvidia Quadro4 700 XGL
80 gig maxtor ide
liteon dvd rom
plextor 40/12/40A cdrw
aspi version 4.5.7
dma enabled

At work
CCD v 4.0.1.10
Windows 2000 Pro
NTFS file system
dual 1800mp AMD
768 meg ddr ram
64 meg Nvidia Quadro4 700 XGL
80 gig ibm ide
adaptec 39160 U160 card
4x 18 gig imb U160 drives
liteon dvd rom
liteon32x cdrw
aspi version 4.5.7
dma enabled

Media tried so far:
Generic from work
Verbatim
Plextor (that came with the drive)
TDK reflex ultra

All attempts have failed so far.
The discs appear to burn ok, but halt at about 8% of the install
with the message in my original post

I have tried the default game profile, the SD2 and SD2.5 profiles,
as well as enabling and disabling the AWS option.
I have also reduced the read and write speeds to X1, but still no joy
I have saved out the log from CCD on the last two attempts if that
is of any use?

Why don’t you give Blindwrite a try? I have and now thats all I use.

well I am at a loss now.
I have search through the threads, and have used ForceASPI
to go to V4.6, but neither CloneCD or BlindWrite will do a working copy…

Any other suggestioins that I can try??

have you tried another sd2 game to backup?
maybe it a original disk of mohaa who is pulling your leg
installing from original may work but backup can be slight different if it a bad pressing

you can try install from image with daemon tools to check its a reading or writing problem

my own backup of mohaa works fine in any reader did with the toshdvd reading /burning liteon
greetz

read settings are fast error skip, write settings close last session.use your lite-on to read and write a good idea check firmware to see if it is most current, read and write at low speed I have made a perfect backup every time using my toshiba XM-6702B for reader and lite-on 40125S as writer any disc I try worked :cop: also click on the reader icon when clone opens to check the settings (EDIT) fast error skip is on, thats it then check the settings for the writer close last session …good luck http://www.liteonit.com/index-english.htm check here for firmware update…

Boy how foolish do I feel.

Installed Daemon tools yesterday, and imaged the CD to HD.
Mounted the image and started the install from there (should that work?) only to have the same problems.

So I then tried (for the first time) to install from the original CD
only to find that the original stalls at the same point with the same error…

I can only assume that I have a duff disc, and that is what has caused me all the problems :frowning:

Thanks for all the help, and I will report back as soon as I have had the CD changed…
