MB ECS L7S7A2

I’m having a big trouble with the ECS L7S7A2 during ripping and encoding videos! The system keep crashing.

Until I’ve been using the pc normaly (I mean gaming, surfing, burning cd, fotos,ecc.) no problem, but the video’s business is not allowed with my system.

My system is:

ECS L7S7A2
AMD XP+2000
250+250MB RAM DDR PC400
HD Maxtor 80GB
GeForce4Mx 64MB
powersupply 400W
XP Coproprate + SP1
BIOS 12/01/2003

No overclocking and genuine drivers from the MB’s installation CD. (the system has the same problem with only one 250MB Ram).

Anyone knows why and how to solve it?

I’d say it’s a software issue. You should update all of your drivers as well as bios of your mobo. Drivers that are found on delivered cd’s are often outdated and cause only trouble.

The Bios is the last one in the ECS site.

About the drivers:
Sis Mini IDE Driver last is [2.04a 2004/1/12] mine is [2.04 2003/10/24]

First of all you should update the chipset drivers.

Hmmm I don’t know about the ripping, but I do know that encoding video is a very heavy task for a computer. This could mean that there is a hardware problem with your system (e.g. bad memory, overheating, weak PSU etc). Please check the sticky thread in this forum “Hardware problems, how to check” and see if any of the items mentioned there apply to you…

I’m keep having a big trouble with my the L7S7A2 Main Board.

The problems are about encodind, ripping e playing videos what freeze the PC.

The PC, before my video’s businness starts, was fine no problems
(gaming, intenet, office and burning CD), but now it is even impossible
playing a Div-x video without get the sistem stuck.

My system is:

  • CPU Atholn XP2000+
  • MB L7S7A2 Rev. 1.1, s/n H1622E31503668
    (you konw alredy about this board when I hasked you for the settings)
  • Two row DDR ram 250Mb pc400
  • HD Maxtor 80Gb
  • Video SPARkle GeForce 4 MX 64Mb

Windows XP Corporate
Bios is the original 06/19/2003
Drivers are from the installatin CD.

The PC get freeze with normals video programs (Bsplay, DVD2SVCD, TMPEnc)
and I don’t konw what to do next.

All my tests has been made with a new installation of Windows in
a fersh formatted HD NTFS, without any result, so I hope what you can help me.
One thing is strange is the MB voltage (you can read the result
in teh bottom of the page) they are completed differenet from the nominal!!
The board is still on Warranty (13 set 2003)

In the follows my test:

Change the DDR ram;
Change 3 power supply;
Change the Windows XP FAT32 and NTFS;
Chamge the OS XP, WinMe;
Change a new fan on the CPU.

If these readings are correct, I’m actually quite wondered how your system can even boot. Every rail is out of line, some are even beyond anything I’ve ever seen.
Sames goes for your CPU… 80C is a little hot!

For the best, go to your BIOS and see what values are read in the PC Health screen. If they are about the same, I think you’ll be doing some shopping tomorrow :slight_smile:

Dee-ehn you are right!
I ordered a new MB (Asus P4S800+ P4 2.8GHz FSB 533 box).

With the default Bios it’s not possible see what values, but i’s possible with the Chb127 Bios.
So I did and the values are exactually the same.

Anyway the Board in still on warratie I’ll tray to contact the service in Italy (that’ll be tough).
