Thanks, dakhaas.

These and the 99p shipping week-end were too hard to resist.

#3

Any idea of the MID of these?

Maxell Xtreme ProTek should be these media codes:

16x DVD+R: MAXELL 003
16x DVD-R: MXL RG04

I’ve never heard of Maxell Xtreme ProTek with non-Maxell media codes, but I’m no expert on Maxell media.

Maxell codes. Like expected.
However MXL RG04 don’t do well with my Philips burner.(benq 1640 twin sister)
Luckilly I got a plextor Px-760, which really loves the -R. (Giving me extremely good scans with plextools)

I’m still waiting for SVP to ship the discs I ordered on Sunday…
Thanks, dakhaas.

These and the 99p shipping week-end were too hard to resist. :D
I got my Maxell Xtreme ProTeks today (there was a problem with my shipping address which delayed delivery).

I can confirm the media codes listed above.

Hub code for DVD+R: P4CD265P

Hub code for DVD-R: M4JD125B

Although I ordered 2 x 100pc spindles of each, they sent me 2 x 100pc DVD-R and 2 x 150pc DVD+R … should I complain about getting 150pc spindles for the same price as 100pc spindles? :stuck_out_tongue:

You need to cross-flash to a BenQ DW1640 with BSRB to insure the best DVD-R burns. 1640s don’t always burn DVD-R that well, especially if you aren’t using BSRB. Also, there is no equivalent to BSRB with the Philips DVD8701 (North America) or DVDR1648 (Europe), so no conclusions can be drawn from your issue.

Got some of these yesterday, nice burns and a good professional looking disc

Shame my next day delivery took nearly a week. ( I did get shipping refunded)

Scans available here and here.

I’m pretty impressed with these, for only a couple of quid more than the regular Maxell’s which are usually Riteks, you get some consistant results, and they look very good too.

More scans being done now
