Maxell 4x -R's at Walmart

Anyone notice that Walmart has 4x -R Maxell disks now? Same price ($19.97) as the 2x ones that I have been using here lately. These are in a blue plastic wrap, not a box, and say Made in Japan on the side.

Should be good quality, but have too many others to burn before I need to buy more, so if anyone has experience with them, chime in.

I’ll be looking for those. If they’re Hitachi/Maxell, that will be the first 4x from them I’ve seen. If they’re TY, well then that’s great too. Either way you should be pleased with them.

Stopped into my local Wally-world today, they still have 2x stock on the shelf. BUT, the little tag on the shelf says “4x DVD-R” and the 10-pack price is $20 in jewel case.
Looking forward to seeing 4x Maxell, woot!

couldn’t wait, and ordered a bunch from Walmart.com. Should have them next week sometime.

 You were beginning to sound like a kid just before Christmas. I guess I could have told you that if you lived anywhere near Odessa, TX both the Walmarts had them in stock.

Hope they’re good. I’ll be looking for your test results.

Odessa, hmmmm, that’s about 12 hours from here.

Hey i don’t know if there any Staples office a round you but they have on sale untill sat night 10 packs in case $ 9.94 i bought all they had 12 boxs can’t beat that price:cool: (Memorex DVD-R or DVD+R) most stores are out but i can tell you they all get there trucks in fir so get them.

I bought a pack of the Maxell DVD-R 4x in the jewel box just this evening for $19 from Walmart. This package has the made in Japan label.

DVD Decrypter and DVD Identifier both report that the blank is a MXL RG02. DVD Identifier reports it is capable of 1,2 and 4x burns in my Plextor 708A.

I will be making a test burn later this evening.

:frowning:
Well, the slackers at WalMart.com sent me the 2x Maxell instead of 4x. The packing slip even says 4x. Oh well, I tried.

Office Depot recently started carrying Maxell 4X 15-pack DVD-R and +R spindles, -R discs are made in Japan with Mfr ID of MXLRG02, and +R discs are the familiar RICOHJPNR01 discs made in Taiwan. Each spindle costs $27, hopefully Office Depot will do a “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” promotion on them in the future.

Finally found some of these, and I was not disappointed.
