I’m a newbie so if this deal isn’t any good don’t shoot me just yet. I saw it while browsing around and it looked pretty good provided the media is of decent quality, which I do not know and will defer to someone that does!

Hope this isn’t a repost.

that’s a great deal.They are MXL RG03.Good discs IMHO.

#3

4X disks?

#4

4x or 8x will depend on the individual stores, though I can’t imaging there is much 4x stock left at this point in time.

#5

Looks like it is good on the +r’s too. Personally I would prefer those. they should be ricohjpnr01 for 4x (could be maxell, ritek or ty but they are almost always ricoh on the 4x). For the 8x they should be maxell002 (could be ricoh on those too but they are usally maxell and ricoh is good too).

Is it just me or does the coupon not work? I was thinking of picking up a pack of ricohjpnr01’s (have less that 200 now, have to replenish)?

#8

Yo-

The shipping is $8-

Buy Taiyo Yudens from Rima for the same $ - and get better media IMO-

I’ll not badmouth ty as I know I’ll get lynched by everyone on the forum but me and ty t02 (fuji and tdk branded) have not gotten along well (even with my 3500). I know that is only one of thier medias but I’ll stick to what performs beyond great for me (such as ricoh)… Ricohjpnr01’s are my workhorse disks. I have burned hundreds (imation, maxell, tdk) and they always perform rock solid for me. I always try to stock up on more when I find them on sale.
Fyi my liteon will burn them at 8x in 8.5 minutes with good kprobes.

the 8x is MIJ the 4x is MIT

not sure who else sells maxell but i would bet if best buy ect. did you might be able to get a PM out of them

it is one “Coupon” per order online. if you go to the store they will give the coupon on each one you purchase (in my experience)

Does anyone have an opinion on the dvd+r code hitachi maxell002. Are they just as good as the mxl rg03 or worst. Just bought some but not sure how good they are.

#13

RT777, are those disks are made in japan and and 8X? if MIJ, they are one of the top three in terms of quality. its TY, maxell and verbatim. TY and maxell are MIJ while Verb is made in singapore. ive burned more than 200 of those maxells and so far i have no problems. stock up if they are cheap. i only use 3 kinds of dvd+r: Fujifilm 8X(TY), maxell 8X(hitachi-maxell), both MIJ and Imation 8X(ricohjprn02) which is MIT, but also very good.

#14

All the verbs I’ve seen in my neck of the woods are MIT. Quality has been “OK” if you don’t get a defective spindle like me. TY has been the best for me and my Benq.

Maxell, on the other hand, were the worst branded media I’ve ever come across. I grabbed several spindles of MIJ Maxell and ended up returning all of them cept for my opened spindle. Maybe I just had bad luck, but the scans on the MXL media I burned with my Benq looked pretty ugly (playable but ugly). My “value” TY media scanned much better.

#15

The shipping would definitely kill the deal but if you have a Staples nearby it may be worth it. I’m thinking of picking up 50 to try. So far I have burned 3 discs with 0 coasters! lol

#16

The 8x+r (maxeel002) have always burned good for me (I’ve got about 100 of them already). I havent tried overspeeding them but they always have burned great on my nec, liteon and my aopen. It wouldn’t let me use the coupon even once but I’m going to try and see if they will match it instore.

#17

ROBERTS- thanks for the quick reply

they are made in japan and so far they have all burned flawless- they also have very good scan results- thanks again for the info…

#18

thanks for the tip just went and bought 2 spindles, dvd-r8x last 2 in the store. Plan on going to another staples and getting at least 2 more spindles!!!

#19

MXL RG03 lowest price in South Korea = US$0.85. 50 pack = US$425. (But it’s still nearly 50% discounted price.)

#20

Darn, online only. I want to go in the store and hand pick those made in japan spindles because I love maxell, they are my favorite media because TY quality is so inconsistent. But if buying online, they might send you a spindle that is MIT, and if you are lucky, you get ricohjpn, if not, then you will get the mediocre ritek
