Unfortunately it is appears to be only 4X supported with firmware 2.FA on NEC 3500A.
I’ll check some other firmwares.

#2

2.18 should allow 16x burning on these, according to YSS: http://homepage2.nifty.com/yss/16xdvd-r/16xdvd-r.htm

#3

Thanks Two Degrees

nice I would like to see how it performs at 16x :stuck_out_tongue:

#7

Hey Wes, are these discs completely smooth on the branded surface or do they have the little raised ring around the hub area that the MXLRG02s and some MXLRG03 have?

#8

No stacking ring because this disc came in a single jewel case.

#9

What is the serial number printed on the plastic hub on this disc? It seems Maxell has different production lines for its discs.

#10

Apparantly that ring I was asking about is the stack ring. I have no idea why I didn’t know that. :o

5:19min with LG GSA-4163B

#12

M4JJ234B here

#13

M4JJ204B here. Looks like we got some “cousin” discs.
@Sen, did yours say where it was made?

#14

Made in Japan

#15

I’m assuming that it’s TY then?

#16

No, they are made by Hitachi-Maxell.

#17

All real Maxell DVD-R media are made by Hitachi-Maxell. Somehow, Hitachi-LG sent the testers in South Korea and in Europe Mitsubishi-made media, not Hitachi-made media for 16x P-CAV tests. It seems Mitsubishi quality is a little better than Hitachi quality in GSA-4163B at least from the popular methods of scanning. (ND-3500A reading, too?)

#18

Spindles of 10 an 25 discs here, not mentioned MIJ in package .
MID is MXL RG04 -Is it possible MIT ?

#19

I don’t think so. I’ve never seen Maxell outsource their MAXELL MID discs to Taiwan.

#20

As i also post here http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=117882#post1042022

Unfortunately same happened to all new media packages of older rated media (8x DVD+R and DVD-R) -Not mentioned “Made in” anywhere ,except in main package box contains Taiwan information -MID code is still MXL
-I think Maxell outsource main production facilities for cost purposes.
