Matshita UJ-832 - can't find driver/firmware

I have an IBM ThinkPad Z60t (lenovo) that shipped with the Matshita UJ-832 CD-RW/DVD burner combo drive. It has worked great for several years and then just recently I could not write to a CD-R. I checked the device manager in Windows XP and the system has loaded the generic CDROM driver for windows. The Matshita still shows up in the device manager list but the generic is higher in the list.

I have been on the phone with IBM/Lenovo after searching the site for drivers/firmware and there is not a driver that I can find anywhere that is correct .

Can anyone point me to someplace to download the driver?

Thanks
Andy

Hi,

there is no such thing like a downloadable driver for optical drives. Period.

Try to clean the lens (if possible), and also try real CD burning software. If there isn’t any CD burning software installed, try ImgBurn which is free and highly recommended.
