I hardly ever use audio CD's so I have no idea how long this problem has existed, but it is at least fairly recent. The curious thing is that it is not a problem with CD's, it is a problem with ONLY audio CD's, data CD's read fine, DVD's read fine, everything appears to burn fine.
When an audio CD is inserted, the drive spins up, spins back down, and then repeats this process several times before giving up.
Attempting to access the drive with an audio CD in it gives the following message: E:\ is not accessible. The Request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
ImgBurn returns the following error: Tracking servo failure.
Normally I would consider it a dead drive in light of all of this, but I just don't see how it could be a hardware problem if data CD's are reading fine.
