Matshita BD-RE Drive Won't Burn CD's

Hi

I have just bought this laptop and I am having problems with my Matshita BD-RE drive. I am trying to burn an ISO to CD using Nero but it has failed twice. Once using Verbatim media and once using Traxdata. I have included the log file for the Traxdata disk below:

I have previousley managed to burn some ISO’s to disk and others have failed. Any help is appreciated…

Cheers

In the log there is KEY_HARDWARE_ERROR so it seems hardware related problem. I would suggest updating the firmware first and try again.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried searching for a new firmware everywhere, apparantly the latest firmware is 1.05 and I only have 1.00 but the only place I can find the new firmware is on Sony’s website, and my laptop is a Dell. Does anybody know where I can find it?

Cheers

Thanks for the really helpful reply!

I’m curious - what is the model number of your drive?

Is it UJ-220?
Thanks for the really helpful reply! :)
Just take it more seriously, because my question still remains unanswered…
I’m curious - what is the model number of your drive?

Yeah It’s a Matshita BD-RE UJ-220

I have the exact same problem - the only difference is that my drive is the UJ232A

Here’s my Nero log - other programs don’t burn either.

What is the brand name of your DVD-R media?
What is the Manufacturing Disc info or MID? You can check MID with Nero DiscSpeed > Disc Info tab.
I have the exact same problem - the only difference is that my drive is the UJ232A
That doesnt make it “the same problem”…
Your drive doesnt even recognize the media, so why do you think it could burn it at 6x??

I’ve tried all different media types - TDK and sony DVD’s - CD’s and a BD-RE i doesn’t matter it won’t burn anything - the speed is fine the media has a higher speed printet on it in every case.

I can play all media - just not burn any…

Hi,
I can play all media - just not burn any…
If I read your log correctly, then you have connected your drive to a Sata controller in Raid configuration. This might be the problem.

Michael

It’s a laptop with 2 HDD in raid 0 i can’t disable that as my OS is on there - my BD-burner should not be part of the raid - that would just be plain stupid - it doesn’t show up on the raid listings in post either…

I think dell screwed up the firmware or something - i’ll call them tomorrow…

Just to clarify - it starts to burn them stops halfway through it makes alot of coasters of my DVD’s - so i tried simulting the burn process and it still fails halfway through… i mostly burn DVD-R from Sony

Wrong.
The controller is in RAID mode, end of story.
