I just bought 50 of these for $100 from www.datamediastore.com. I wanted a premium DVD-R, it was either MAM-A or Verbatim Ultralife. LGE08!! Did I make a bad choice?
I would prefer Verbatim UltraLife over MAM-A.
MAM-A has been using all kinds of weird stuff for their high speed 8x and 16x DVD media, and they’re not really worth the price IMO.
Too bad Verbatim Ultralife does not make white inkjet surfaces. For DVD-R, Verbatim uses Advanced AZO dye, MAM-A uses Phthalocyanine dye, Taiyo Yuden uses AZO (Advanced AZO?) too, am I right?
Not much information on the kind of DVD dye technology available/used. All I found out is most uses AZO and cyanines. Phthalocyanine DVD dye does not exists.
You must be american. Look what we euro’s can get.
Also 5 packs in DVDtype-jewelcases.
WOnder if MAM-A bought this stuff from LG or that they are now ussing LG’s stampers. With MAM-A both is possible I say.
Could you post a serialnumber if there is one of this disc?
And if possible the stamper code as well ?
But they’re expensive; about 5 times the price of non-printable non-hard-coat Verbatim DVD-R media.
I have ordered some to try them out, however.
Yes there expensive.
32 euro’s for 25 pcs. Hmm let’s do a calculation.
50 pcs is 50 euro’s.
According to google. 1 euro is 1.3176 dollars at the moment.
So 64 euro’s times 1.3 is still less as those MAM-A LG’s of the topic starter !
Compared to MPO GOLD verbatim also ain’t that expensive.
Actually, it’s more like € 1 =< $1.
LG’s media is, IIRC, produced by Prodisc…
Which country of origin does the disc have?
6354 D11 29026 1g
Where do you get them that cheap? Nierle sell them at €40 for 25pc cakebox.
dakhaas is correct - 1 Euro = 1.3241 USD right now.
I was talking about the actual purchasing power…
Froogle’s cheapest result for Germany is € 33.90 + shipping.
xmediatrade.de (Same place as were I took that picture from.) I think they also have the more expensive a disc 5-packs as well.
Looks to be MAM-A made.
No more MAM-A for me. I’ll try Verbatim Ultralife.
That looks like the US version of the European HardCoat Verbatims.
It has the VideoGard (= Hard Coat Protection) and the Photo Printable top, but does it also have a Gold/Silver reflective layer like the Archival Grade media?
No, unfortunately there is no printable version of the Ultralife Archival media for the US market.
I wonder if the “gold/silver” reflective layer on the Archival Grade discs makes it scan worse?
