Major Problems...Help Please!

Hello CDFREAKS,
I accidently deleted most of the entries in my
registry by trying to uninstall the trial version of CDMATE. No
problems loading windows XP, but i cannot launch any programs.
When i click on any shortcuts etc nothing happens. I tried
using NAV to recover files but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Is there a program on the net that would allow me to recovers
file and have my system back to some form of normality.

sys restore?

there was a post a few weeks ago in this section about recovering lost data…it might be a good place to start - but ntfs can be a pain to recover on.

Thanks Ckin2001 for your reply but that was the first thing i tried.
When i tried to select restore nothing happens i cannot even
execute any programs. I tried installing Getdataback which is fine
but system would not allow me to execute the program.
It looks like formatting my Partition and reinstalling Windows.

thats the best i can see, as well. if there is no telling which registry entries got removed…not much we can do. unless you happened to back it up before you messed with it.

if you have a mostly identical system, or just a system with windows xp on it, you could backup the registry keys specific to windows xp from it, and merge them with your other registry. if the only other option you have is format/reinstall, this might be worth a last gasp.

Try reinstalling the apps over their old location. You should still see the most updated data but back up any important data just in case something goes wrong.

Thanks for the replies guys. Eventually had to reformat my C partition now everything is back to normal. I did lose all my
passwords and keys for programs that was stored in NOTEPAD.
Anyway i’m up and running again.
