Magnetic screw driver

I accidentally used it to unscrew a screw to remove the hard drive from the case. It won’t damage the hard drive right? I believe that the magnetic power on there is pretty weak?

It takes an enormously powerful magnet to remove data from a hard drive.

My PC tool kit includes magnetic nut drivers. No problem. Remember, PC speakers have a magnet in them that are much stronger than a magnetic tool.

The actuator arm that the hd head moves on inside the hd itself is moved using magnets which are FAR more powerful than the magnet inside your screwdriver and these super powerful magnets are positioned right next to thr hd platters.

you needn’t worry about using a magnetic screwdriver.

Your chances of data loss are when power of the HDD is on. Since the HDD was powered down you will be fine.
