I have a new Magnavox VCR/DVD player/recorder. We have cable TV. I have connected all cables as shown. I can play tapes and DVDs to the TV but I cannot record onto either tape or DVD.
We have Verizon FIOS for TV, phone and Internet, if that makes any difference. The VCR/DVD player has no internal tuner, therefore no coax connections. The video and sound cables run from the Verizon box to the recorder/player. Then another set of cables from the player/recorder to the TV.
There is no mention of this problem in the troubleshooting guide.
Interestingly, if I remove the yellow video cable that links the Verizon box to the player/recorder, I lose the TV picture despite the coax cable still being hooked up. So there does not appear to be a problem between these two devices.
If it helps, the model is ZV420MW8. The Magnavox website doesn't even list this device.
