Madddog

I purchased the following external USB 2.0 drive:

MD-18XTFE
TSSTCompCD/DVDW SH-S182D
(Samsung)
18X DVD+R 12X DVD RAM 8X DVDRW 8X DVD+R DL 16X DVD Rom
MegaSTOR 18X Triple Format External DVD-RW
USB 2.0

I am using what I believe is the latest firmware from Samsung since nothing is listed on the MD site for this drive.

Querstion: Does any know of a modified software forf this drive that will allof permanent bitsetting? Curently I have to use Nero Speed to change to DVD-ROM for each disk I burn. It would seem there must be some way to do it on a permanent basis. E-mails to MD resulted in no help - they said it should be done automatically but it does not.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you use Nero, choose the recorder and then change it to DVD-ROM…

I do not use Nero much at all. Any other ideas - can the bitsetting e changed for this drive so it stays at DVD ROM?

Never used it but there is a booktype management program offered at the Maddog support site; you might try ImgBurn also.

Tried that utility from the MD site - does not work with this drive. Also tried Imageburn and no luck. Only way so far is to use Nero CD Speed after a blank is inserted and then change it. Only lasts for that one disk.

Any other ideas.
