LTR-52246S questions

Hello. I found an old Sony CRX215A1 for sale and I am thinking about buying it, it’s very cheap. I have read here that it can be crossflashed to the LTR-52246S. If so:

  1. Can anyone tell me how accurate CD scanners are they?
  2. Do they work with all the tests in WSES?
  3. Are they good burners? (I have read here that CD Writers are better at writing CDs than DVD Writers)
  4. Is SOHW-1653S or others for example a better choice for CD scanning?

Thanks.

Unless the CD writer says Plextor and Premium on the label that’s probably not a good automatic assumption. I can’t speak to the specific LTR-52246S you’re asking about, as I haven’t tested one, but some DVD burners do a very good job on CDs, better than many CD Writers.

Never will that be true of MediaTek DVDRW drives, unless your other drives don’t support error scanning at all.
