Well the first software that I was using was an older version of Nero, I uninstalled that and installed Alcohol 120%. I also am also trying Nero 6.3 and am getting same problem. I know that the cdr's are not exactly high quality but They are the same ones that I used before and had no problem.
The used read buffer stays at full the whole time, whether it burns or not. The buffer level stays at 0% till it starts burning, (if it does), the stays between 95%-100%.
When it comes to speed, I used the "Test Drive", included with Nero, with a full cd and got 16x read!! I also know that the disks I have are 40x burn and I can only select up to 16x. This I know is BS.
Here is part of the log file that was created by Alcohol 120% on one of my last attempts that failed:

I will buy some better media and try that. Maybe that will solve my burning issue, but in regard to the speed....... ARGHHHH. Does anyone have any insight on how to get my speed back?
