Can anyone burn at speeds lower than 6x? With 8x media, I can only burn at 8x and 6x. I need to burn at 2x forvideo movies that I made.
You don't "need" to burn at 2x, and it will gain you nothing. 4x is the lowest possible speed for this burner, (media dependant). You should be burning at the media's rated speed.
No you cant'!!For example with MCC04:The 1693s offers 6X, 8X, 12X, 16X.The 1653S offers 4X, 6X, 8X, 12X, 16X.The BenQ 1620 offers 2.4X, 4X, 8X, 12X, 16X.
Ur right, on MCC03 for instance(DVD+R8x)I can only burn 6x or 8x on my 1693s.I,m curious if I downflash the media to 4x how a scan turns out compairing to 6x.I havent done faster burns yet, just got the drive 1 week ago.Have to finish my verbatims DVD+R 8x,maybe after that I will buy 16 spd media.
Interestingly, I have found that my Verbatim MCC 003 burn much better at 6X than at 8X. True with KS09 and KS0A.
First I’d like to say THANK GOD FOR CDFREAKS!!!and OMNIPATCHER!!!!
Thank you all for your input on this. By going through this site and finding out about omnipatcher, I was able to hack the firmwareof my Liteon 1693 and burn the media that I use at a slower speed.I know that some of you think this makes no difference. I have two DVD players and one of them is a picky SOB and will not playanything that was burned faster then 4x speed. I burned a videoproject to a DVD that was burned at 2.4 and it plays great on the picky DVD player, but take the same media, burner andsoftware, it will not play a DVD that was burned at 6x speed.
I’m happy as hell now that I can burn at 2.4. Thanks everyone.
