Apparently, disc drives handle damaged audio CDs much better if thr potentiometer is decreased, which means:Less laser power = better CDDA damage handling.
Why is that?
IIRC the potentiometer is a resistor in series with the power lead to the laser.
By decreasing the pot’s resistance you are increasing the brightness of the laser, which may improve reading by increasing the contrast in the signal transmitted to the pickup.
Does that mean turning to the left?
On our old DVR-R07 (Equivalent of Pioneer DVR107 for DVD recorders such as our DVrw250), CD-RW was not detected at all. DVD-RW detected sometimes.
