I wasn't sure how to post this so I'll post what comes to mind. I recently bought, as a bit of a tester, some eDisc 8x DVD-R - a 15 pack for about £1.95
To my surprise, it wasn't the fake TY media I thought it might have been after I bought a single AOne DVD-R to see what they were like. Anyway, so I got home and began testing it out. Guess what MID code they were.
This took me completely by surprise. I had never used UmeDisc DVD-R before, so I was curious to see how they turned out. They burned, on a SlimType DVD A DS8A2L-A 7H63 (Really LiteOn) in a HP G60 laptop.
To my surprise they actually burned and verified using ImgBurn. Still curious, I did a TRT test (all good) and a ScanDisc (Good too).
I was however a little concerned about the Disc Quality graph using Nero CD-DVD Speed software? So can someone advise me how to read one of these before as I've never felt the need to
Regarding my thread title, I reckon dependent on the quality of the media and the MID code of that media, I reckon UmeDisc can perform extremely well in certain burners.
I relate to videohelp for this - If you have a look at Nexxtech for example:
It's mostly got mixed reviews about the Ume01 / Ume02 MID. But I think, judging by the medoirce quality media Ume produces, on certain burners it would work like a charm. It might not work for example too well on a NEC, but a LiteOn will do it much better.
Perhaps I wouldn't use it for long term solutions, but I think if UmeDisc prove decent, I may start to use their discs
