I think Fairmount is better for newer encryption schemes. Just my two cents.

I started Fairmount and put a DVD in. Now what do I do? Is there a guide on how to do this?

Another option: If you have Bootcamp, Parallels, CrossoverMac, or Wine you can use several Windows apps like DVDFab, DVDShrink, Imgburn, etc.

No, I’m done with Windows after WAY too many viruses and spyware. I do see a guide at Fairmount’s site though. Hopefully I’ll get it.

It’s pretty much explained on the Main Page. Did you install VLC?

Yes, I have VLC installed. I’m copying a movie to the harddrive now. I wish I didn’t need to copy it over first. I wish I could do like I did with DVDFab and compress it on the fly.

Well, have you ever tried Wine (freeware). I use it with linux and run DVDFab HD Decrypter, just the free portion which doesn’t compress. I know there was a problem registering DVDFab running under Wine, don’t know if it got resolved.

I use Mac only. It looks like I can compress on the fly. I just select the DVD itself as the source. Hopefully this will work.
