I take it you have looked through this thread in the Lite-on drive subforum? http://club.myce.com/f44/what-truly-lite-ons-drives-306669/
I’m not an expert on Lite-on drives and in fact, tend to run screaming from them, but if the information in that thread is correct, then either of the 22x drives available at Newegg should be true Lite-on, MTK chipset drives.
If you’d like, I can move this to the Lite-on forum for you.
Sure i guess puting it in the lite on section does make more sense. As it was the first place I went to research where I could find one, but only got more confused in the process. I also wasnt sure if it was the right place for where to buy questions, so I figured the newbie section would be a good start.
but yes I looked throught the lite on section, but i guess i just didnt comprehend it the first time i read through it. As I thought they were saying the 24x drives were hard to tell apart from rebadges (which I think they are), I just missed the part where they commented on how 22x drives are real lite ons.
thanks for the help!
Also is there any particular reason you run away from them? The reason I was thinking about replacing my NEC with a liteon was only because I wanted to run quality scans on my burns. Do you preffer BenQ or another brand for that purpose?
