That's a real pity to hear Foxit doing this.
Before making the full switch to another reader, it's worth compiling a list of PDF files to test with, especially complex PDFs like receipts and with diagrams. For example, when I first started ordering from the online Dabs store a few years ago, their receipts did not display properly even in Foxit when I first switched away from Adobe.
If you think Abobe Acrobat Reader is a terrible resource hog, you should see how nasty they are at ripping off customers outside of the US. For example, if you specialise in video creation and decide to fork out on the Adobe Creative Suite 4, it is $1,699 in the US. That very same suite in Ireland is €2,307.28. Convert that to dollars and it becomes $2,960! I.e. it would be cheaper to book a flight to the US, purchase this software suite, stay in a luxury hotel, spend a few days on holiday (of course :p) and come back home with some change left over.
Another place to check for PDF readers/viewers is on the website www.portablefreeware.com Key in "PDF viewer" or "PDF reader" and it will give a few others that may be worth trying. I generally find this website better than Google look-ups and other software websites at finding useful freeware software, especially since portable software can be got rid of without leaving shared files and cluttering the registry. For example, try looking up file undeletion software by Google and you'll get plagued with results and spam trying to sell you something.
