Hey Viper,
thanks a ton it is showing up and i can play DVD’s again. if oyu think your up to another puzzle i got one for you.

i can play most DVD’s again, But, i still cant play audio CD’s or Blank CD’s when i put either of them intot he drive it simply doesnt do anything. if i go to My Computer and try to open the drive that way while either of them are in it givs me the " program is not responding " message. and closes explorer out.

i dont know how else to describe it but i have tried several types of media and i really dont know where to go from there. if you have any more of them great solutions i wil be glad to hear them.

First use Nero Info Tool and check your drive and firmware version:

Then you can tray to find new firmware or you can just upgrade your it in your drive whith this from LiteON:

This firmware is to the external (“X” in the model name) drive but this is exactly the same:

EXTERNAL SLIM DVD RW Firmware Download
SOSW-852SX ( 8x 4x / 2.4x / 4x 2x + 24x 24x 24x ) EXTERNAL SLIM DVD Dual Firmware

I’m using it now and I’m happy with it. My log from nero info tool:

Nero InfoTool 3.01
