I kind of got bored of the usual XP themes that are out there, so i decided to try Litestep (i saw some pics and it looks really awsome !!).

The thing is that the official site (www.litestep.net) is down since February and all other sites i tried (and there were many believe me) are all linked to the official site. So i can't find any website to download it from, not can i find any litestep themes.

Can anyone help ??

Hmmmm
Strange.
You might try searching with google
It took me 2 minutes to find this link.

http://www.beyondconvention.net/ohussain/cgi-bin/download.cgi?LiteStep_Installer_2.0.exe

Downloaded it myself and it works.
Also try this site for nice skins and themes.

Good luck, litestep is a nice program.

It’s 10 minutes later now here and the themes link I posted works perfect.
So check your proxy or firewll, that could be the problem
Good luck!

It seems to me that you have used litestep before, maybe you can give me an advice or two…

Do i install it under the administrator account (on XP) or in any user account (for safety reasons…)?

Do i need to modify any ini or other system files in order to get it to work?

What are the “older-newer builts”? What is the distro patch?

Any advice would be appreciated, i don’t wanna go into any “format c:/” procedures tonight …

Yep the themes link works just fine now … damn that new zonealarm … it freaks me out sometimes

Sorry for the silly (and time-consuming to answer) questions, i have found a FAQ page somewhere online anyways, so i ll try that instead. Seems quite complicated, from what i gather you have to make several commands in step.rc file to make it work. I also suppose that you will have to manually give the commands to open any kind of application…

It actually looks more alike Linux (so why use litestep over linux?..)

No problem

I finally got it to work … it looks great

Have some problems with distro themes yet … can’t get the patch to work :frowning:

I would also like to use another file manager appart from explorer, does anybody have something fancy (and stable !!) in mind??
