Hi,
is it normal that my LiteOnDVD can’t read DVD+RWs?

I’ve tried different brands (Verbatim, Philips, NoNames).
I’ve burned them as DVD+RW and DVD-ROM - but not readable in den LiteOn.

I use the NEC1100A as DVD-burner.

The DVD+RW are readable in my standalone and in the NEC1100A.

I’ve tried every firmware for the LiteOn but nothing change.

Only one DVD+RW is readable in the LiteOn - this is the only DVD+RW with a manufactory-information stored on it. I’ve bought this DVD+RW in a package of 10 pieces and the other 9 are not readable.

test a another dvdrw. make a fullformat on your dvdrw and burn new on it

Thank’s for the answer.

The NEC1100A won’t work with kprobe or cd-speed 3
But the discs are perfectly readable in the DVD-writer and standalone DVDs.
The problem is only DVD+RW (not DVD-RW).

>what for a fw have you on you burner ?
I’ve tested the original NEC1100A V1A1 and V1A3 and the HP DVDWriter300n V3.20.

>test a another dvdrw
I tested about 40 discs (8 different brands)

>make a fullformat on your dvdrw and burn new on it
I always make a full format before every new recording

Do you have a LiteOn DVD (firmware)?
And what DVD-burner (and firmware) are you using?

Can anyone read a DVD+RW on a LiteOn166s which is burned on a NEC1100A?

Can anyone tell me whether there should be a manufactor information on a DVD+RW?

Maybe you have a defective 166S, then. The 166S should be able to read +RWs just fine with the latest firmware (or even with an older firmware) and even at speeds higher than what it was designed for.

Thank you.

Can anyone answer this two questions?

  • Can anyone read DVD+RWs on a LiteOn166s which is burned on a NEC1100A?
  • Can anyone tell me whether there should be a manufactor information on a DVD+RW?
