Welcome to the forum.

According to LiteON it’s a external drive or am I wrong. http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/English/e_product/e_sdw431sx.asp

Do you have USB 2.0 in your labtop.

Hello there thankyou for replying.

There is an external version which is called SDW 431S (X) mine is just SDW 431S internal version. Ive been reading past problems similar to mine but it doesnt really make sense to me (Sorry must be thick)

sorry yes i do have usb 2.0 on my laptop

Is DMA enabled for harddisc and SDW 431S. http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101616

What’s the current firmware version.

Yes DMA is enabled on both the rimary and secondary and my currnt firmwire is (from the bottom of the drive) MCS3

Where did you get the firmware you have tried yo upgrade your drive with.

What the Acer type of your laptop.

Do the manufacturer have a new firmware for the SDW 431S.

What the brand and media dye of the DVD disc your use. DVDIdentifier

Thanks for your request on how to update firmware on your
Lite-On Laptop SDW-431S Slimtype computer DVD burner drive.

OFFICIAL DOWNLOAD LINK
You may download the latest update MS0K at…
http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/WebFW/SDW-431SX/DR4MS0K.zip

I have an ACER Laptop ASPIRE 9100. Tried on the website but they have nothing. and I am using Datawrite DVD -R

If you use DVDIdentifier you will probably discover, that this media type of dye is not supported by drive’s firmware. Burn 1x to unsupported media.

Try other media.

Firmware MSC3 is for OEM, while MS0K is for LiteON drive and it will say that you got the wrong drive.

You should be able to crossflash from OEM to a 431s.

I will try that mate and will post the results back tomorrow mate. Hope we can get this sorted cheers for your help so for

Cheers Jim

As I expected. Your drive firmware don’t support FUJIFILM03 and write the disc at 1x.

You better find some 4x dvd-r/dvd+r, which should be supported by the drive’s firmware.

About crossflashing, have a look here. http://codeguys.rpc1.org/oc.html

nice one cheers mate. Managed to find myself some newer firmware and then this allowed to flash my drive with the original update i downloaded. Look like im goona have to look for some new dvd-r

Cheers for all your help mate

@benson881

Hi, maybe you could give me some link where to find some new firmware.
I tried to manipulate my original mcs3 with omnipatcher. For some reason now he doesn’t recognize any cd, no matter if it is an original or burned one.
DVDs are fine.

Hope you can help me.
