Anyone know a timescale for these lovley drives?

    #6

First 48X is due to ship early June. But those with higher rewrite speed will most likely arrive late this year.

how fast can you spin a cd exactly before it really blows apart? or how fast before there is no longer an unsubstantial chance it will blow up?

some of the 56x cd roms start at 26x or ~13,500 rpm as i figure it

think will ever see 26-56x cav burner?

I’d like to see a 72X CLV burner à la Kenwood! Burn a CD in 1 minute… Hmm… less time than it takes to format a floppy!

    48x CAV writing:

I really do not like the noise which my 40125S@ZS0G produces when reading a CD @ 48x (according to Nero CD-Speed it makes even 52x). Do they plan to do something against this terrible noise?

A burner with multiple lasers would be nice, that would make (in the example of four lasers) 4x32=128x!!!

    Hehe…

    #13

when reading games and such, yes loud fast spinning drives can be annoying

but when burning… i dont mind if the drive is loud as all hell because its only for 2-3 minutes, same with installs

reading movies it also goes to a slower speed and is not a problem

    #14

does the 72x kenwood have 2 lasers [obviously for reading;)]

    #15

    I read somewhere that it had 4 lasers… One 12 o clock, one 3 one 6 and one 9…
    Don’t know if it’s correct though…
