Hi.

I got several burners,the fastest is a Plexy 24x.

Now I wanna buy one of the fastest 40x drives on the market.

Which one you think is the best buy and why?

I already now the properties of the different drives (Safe 2.51 yes or no,overbun limit,ecc....).
I prefer quality burn to speed.

Thanks a lot,bye and sorry for my english.

Lite-On 40X, Asus 40X, Plextor 40X, TEAC 40X are all very good.

But the plextor seems to be a bit to much picky about media to my preferance(only 2-3 brands with 40X rating will work at 40X).

I really don’t know which of these writers that I will recommend.

Depends what you want to do with them.
If you only burn mp3 files for instance, then go for the cheapest.

If you do more ‘demanding’ tasks, get a Lite-On or ASUS.

asus probably your best bet, but i think the liteon’s are cheaper

I have no idea where to find an Asus 40x burner here in Italy…they are not very comemrcial and easy to find…but I know they’re good products and can do EFM correctly.

I’m between LiteOn and lg 40x,but I can’t find Lg 40x easily.

Thanks

then go for the liteon because[ul]
[li]it will support P-Cav writing soon
[/li][li]it will support MT Rainer soon
[/li][li]it’s cheap
[/li][li]it is the fastest burner [although u made it clear you didn’t care about speed]
[/li][/ul]

Yes,I think I’ll go for the LiteOn 40125s.
I read the new review on cdrinfo,it won’t be the fastest P-Cav 40x recorder, since drives like Lg 40x have a better writing average.

May be LiteOn engineers will make it faster in feature, spinning the drive up to 10k Rpm for all the disk,as Lg drive already works.

LiteOn doesn’t seem writing great in the first 5-10 mins, but surely they will improve writing quality and playability with future firmware upgrade.

The Mt.Rainer format is already ok.

Thanks

My 24102B will not read Memorex ‘Pocket’
CDRs but my Teac (8X) will. I am using latest
firmwares for both.

Litey’s are fast and cheap. Teac’s are Excellent.
Please read the CDfreaks review of both 40x drives
before you make a purchase.

I have already read both reviews on differents sites.
I know Teac drive are better than LiteOn,but as I said in my first post of this 3d,I already own different drives, even better than LiteOn 40x at the writing process (Plex 24x and Teac 8x for audio recording are superb, for ex.).

The main problem is that I don’t have a fully capable EFM drive, and LiteOn and Lg are able to.
I’m sure I’ll only keep the drive I’ll purchase just for few months, then I will sell it without losing much money.
Before summer I’m already going to purchase the Teac CDW 540 E,or any future Teac drive (might be EFM capable).

Thanks for your reply.
You all guys keep posting if you think something about this.
