I have a Liteon LTR163D DVD ROM. I just ACCIDENTLY flashed it when I saw a link on cdfreaks frontpage ( http://www.jlms.com.tw/download.htm ). I flashed my drive with XJ-HD163D firmware. I did not realize the the differences between Liteon and JVC liteon. The flash succeed but I don’t know if it will going bad. What can I do? Can I flash it back?

My drive showed before the flash in WinXP: Lite-on LTR163D
After the flash: XJ-HD163D

I could be missing something here but what exactly is the problem?

If you want to flash it back then download a binary firmware (or use the one that you backedup before flashing) and flash it: http://digi.rpc1.org/

The only problem is that sometimes software will not recognise the new drive designation. If you have no troubles with that, don’t worry.

According to the link you provided, LTD-163D and XJHD-163D are exactly the same drive. If so, I don’t have anything to worry about that. This is my first time trying to flash a drive, may to a little too much worry!

Thank you so much everyone!

It is just a name change that Liteon made a while back when they merged with JVC I believe. Some of us here used to edit the firmware so the DVD Rom would still say LTD-163D but I stopped doing that with the latest firmware update.
