Platinum BD-R 25GB 6x (RITEKBR3), burned with crossflashed BH16nS55 to LG WH16NS58

Here are some scans with an original Liteon 112 2, crossflashed HP BD335i and BD335e, all PL06

Liteon 8x

HP bd335i@iHBS 112 2 8x

HP bd335e@iHBS 112 2 8x

Liteon 6x

HP bd335i@iHBS 112 2 6x

HP bd335e@iHBS 112 2 6x

The HP BD335e shows completely different values, the original Lite and the 335i are verx close

For comparing heres a Scan with the crossflashed BH16nS55 to LG WH16NS58

You can try this:

Thanks @Tester_1

#1136

Did it help?

#1137

Yes, it was what i was looking for. It has been 7 years since i have been around here on a regular basis. I have forgotten a lot.

burner: LiteOn iHBS312
firmware: PL17

Media: Panasonic BD-R 4x 50 pack spindle
MID: MEI T02 001
Burn Speed: 4x
Software: Nero Express 2014
Burned: 09 February 2018
Purchased: January 2014
Origin: Japan

The spike at the end is worrying, but it looks far better than the Verbatim BD-R DL MEIT02.

#1140

This should not cause any problems

BD-R SL is mostly more unproblematic than DL

#1141

Verbatim 6x BD-R (#43838 labled 50 pack, next BD out of a new 50 pack)
CMCMAGBA5
iHBS112 @ Plextor PX-B950SA 1.04
burned @ 4x

Even a bit better than the Pioneer 209E/M @ 4x.

#1142

Same with the Pioneer, strange media. My BA5 don´t have this hump in the mid-area.

#1143

Verbatim 6x BD-R (#43838 labled 50 pack, next BD out of a new 50 pack)
CMCMAGBA5
iHBS112 @ Plextor PX-B950SA 1.04
burned @ 6x

Basically the same result as 4x now with 6x, good to see.

#1144

I guess the scan-difference would be higher at higher scan-speed than burn speed

#1145

Well, if you look at the Pioneer 209 scans of these CMC Verbatims burned at 4x and 6x, the 6x burns have higher error rates, the LiteOn doesn’t seem to care that much about 4x or 6x speed as the Pioneer.

#1146

Ah, OK

I use my LiteOns rarely for burning because my other bunches of writers do with most media a better job; only with Ritek my Lite is better, but I try to avoid this crappy media

#1147

Yeah, it’s a bit weird, dunno if it’s CMC related, I’ve seen other things I consider weird with this media, like higher error rates at 4x speed than 6x speed with my old Pioneer 206. Usually the lower speed should have lower error rates? Well, still best media around for its price.

#1148

I guess the FW is also responsible for the writing-quality. Different speed, different laser-power? It´s the combination which makes the result.

Lower speed doesn´t guarantee better quality. IMHO a high-speed-media and high-speed-burner is optimized for high speed.

With BD-R it´s not that easy, because I have some media which have different speed ratings, like MBIR06, BA5 and OTCBDR002. Some are 4x, others 6x

But most burners would burn t also 8x, 10x, 12x.

OTCBDR002 is the only BD-R I have which are always better at lowest burn speed (2x). But I dunno how many different media use this code. My HQ4U looks totally different to the Plexdisc with same MID

#1149

Yeah, it always has been.
