Dunno whether C and D models are really use other hardware, maybe only the FW is different

C and D have different boards, but main chip is the same.

Thank you for the info

But it´s a bit like LG, new models without big difference

2601, i tried to PM you but it says you have too many PM’s and i cant send you anymore, kinda sucks, so…heres what i was wondering…

i see you have that asus drive with the iHAS124C firmware (LL0G) flashed, i dunno if you saw my thread or not http://club.myce.com/f44/liteon-ihas124c-crossflashing-firmware-333397/#post2696164

but if you could check that out and if you could hook up the .bin and eeprom from that drive so i could progress easier with the program i’m working on writing in cpp to extract firmware from the new flashers and make convert it to a .bin (there are minor changes made when its flashing) as well as work on the crossflashing technique for the PLDS c clones, thatd be a major help…i’m trying to finish this app up so we can extract firmwares successfully from the scrambled flashing exe’s liteon released, and i’m almost there…

hopefully you can help me out, instructions are in the thread i linked to above if you need them, but i doubt you do.

thanks in advance.
Liteon 324 C @Plextor PX-891SA ?
Here you go. No need to modify eeprom.
Asus DRW-24B5ST (Liteon 324 C clone)
I put the 124C firmware on that drive successfully, check out my thread if your interested.

#53

So what´s the “sure” thing if you want a MTK-Liteon? Only the drives with features like SmartErase and Labeltag (324, 524)?

#54

Wischmop, 524 - yes (latest version was D, it uses MediaTek chipset), 324 - can use Renesas chipset (324 W).

Thx

Since I was away from the site for a while, I didn’t know of the demise of Daxon and the subsequent disappearance of Sony MID media from the North American market, so I bought these in ignorance

This drive seems to have issues with the outer edge of discs when burning at high speeds.

FTI-made Mitsubishi DL media isn’t bad. The disc got scratched near the outer edge before I did the scan in the 891SA, explaining the high PIE/PIF near the layer break. Interestingly, it seems this disc was intended for a wide printable surface as the hub is silver coated.

So apparently this FTI DL media is just RICOHJPN D01 with a better supported MID? Still using Ricoh stampers. Whatever the case, this is good stuff.
