How can i change the book type on a Asus DRW-24-B5ST

sorry for my bad engilsch

#38

So DRW-24-B1ST-c is cross flashable or no?

#39

I’ve got a DH16ACSH, and as you said, FU can’t dump the firmware, but dosflash can, i’ve been trying to get this drive flashed to iHAS124C firmware for 2 days now, check out the following threads to see the process…

If anyone can help me out with the firmware from dosflash and an eeprom backup for a 124C iHAS, shoot me a message.

#40

Warning! Lite-On iHAS124-04D could not write down media MCC004 for the speed 8Ñ…, errors it has appeared too much.

#41

I re-scanned some older burned media with my iHAS 524.

Now I have often the problem that the 524 recognize (takes more time as normal) my Fuji DVD+R 8x (YUDEN000 T02), burned with Benq 1640, as DVD+Rw

Did anyone have also this Problem?

#42

Wischmop, it’s very common thing in LiteOn BD and DVD drives - my iHAS124 B has same glitch quite often. I’ve figured out that the problem is in laser head (not the spindle or laser head’s worm drive). I still have no idea why does this glitch happen. When I eject and insert the tray with disc several times it recognizes the disc properly and works great with it - passes all tests in Nero CD Speed, makes quality scans, writes blank DVD-Rs / DVD+Rs, etc. And the burn results of this drive are also great. Interesting thing - this glitch never happen when I insert DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD+R DL or pressed DVD-ROM - both SL and DL.

Also, I’ve seen three iHBS112 with same glitch with BD-R - it recognized BD-Rs after 10 or 15 tray eject-insert sequences with BD-R and also this glitch never happened with BD-RE.

Well, I have this prob now very often, even with other DVD+R, never with DVD-R. Sometimes it help to eject and reload DVD, but sometimes not.

Now I make scans with my LG GH-24NS95, never had this prob.

Is it a general Liteon-prob or only with newer models?

#44

I can’t exactly say if it newer LiteOn models problem or not - I’ve seen this on B, C and D revisions of iHAS124 since 2011 year and also I’ve seen similar BD-R glitch (described above) on latest iHBS112 (manufactured Jan 2013). And I’ve never seen that glitch on Optiarc drives AD-7241S and AD-7261S, although they probably use same laser head as iHAS124 A (btw, laser head of iHAS124 A works perfectly on iHAS124 B and vice-versa, I didn’t yet check if it compatible with iHAS124 C and iHAS124 D and vice-versa).

#45

Can´t say nothing to Optiarc-drives, don´t have one of these.

I have the 524 B, which should be use same components as the 124 B. Dunno whether C and D models are really use other hardware, maybe only the FW is different.

I focus in next time on DVD-R, so this is maybe not that important, but this problem is still not nice.

I´m lucky with my GH-24NS95 which do it´s job great

Dunno whether it´s more accurate than Liteon, but who know that really?
