I have 7280,and I am not satisfied. That burner is not so good writer (quality test is showing maximum of 93% quality scan in Nero Disc speed). Actually quality test results may vary from 90-93 and even lower.
7280s is not so good at scanning DVD-s,like 5240s was.
What is your oppinion ?
Forget about the score. The quality test score is largely irrelevant. What’s important is the magnitude and distribution of the PIE/PIF errors. You can find some very good scans around which have a 93% score.
Burn quality depends on the media used and its quality. No burner in the world will burn well on poor quality cheap media. Post some scans, and give details about the media used.
The quality (PIE/PIF and test score) reported by Nero Disc Speed is also dependent on the scan drive model, its firmware revision and the scanning speed used. Which drive did you used to scan? If you used your 7280 then you can’t really draw a conclusion based on those scans. Sony Optiarc/NEC drives in general are not reliable scanners.
It is a well known fact that the only reliable drives for quality scanning are those based on Mediatek chipsets (LiteOn, some Samsung, etc). Even amongst Mediatek based drives, some are better than others when it comes to scanning accuracy…
