now after few days i tried 2 write on sony dvd-r with lower speed 4x. burning was success bt no data in dvd after re-checking. so is the dvd media faulty or my drive on way 2 death ?

#3

You may have bad media. That’s usually what a KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR suggests. If you can, try to get a different brand of media. Sony usually isn’t a bad choice, but bad batches can happen.

Just to test, try ImgBurn (Google search for ImgBurn; should be the first link). It typically works quite well when other software fails, and gives good logs when the burn process fails.

thanx 4 reply . will do that.

#5

tried burning @ 4x, was sucess bt doesnt showup data in dvd when inserted again & checked in win explorer.

checked the same dvd @ frds place, its shows the whole damn data. whot is wrong with my drive ???

#6

There may be software conflicts/issues that are making this really difficult.

Do you have anything besides Nero (and possibly ImgBurn now) that might be causing issues? Any software that uses the optical drive at all? And did ImgBurn (if that’s what finally worked to successfully write) give you any warnings or errors?

Also, an odd request I’m sure, but could you by any chance try the DVD burner in another computer? In some ways it’s easier than buying a new drive, only to have the same problem, and would help narrow down the issue.

#7

In ImgBurn make sure Test Mode is unchecked.
The way you posted the log is hard to read.
Try posting the ImgBurn log.
I need to look for it but I believe there is a firmware update for this drive by COdeKing.
Here it is :
